The antidote to chasing love and approval from unavailable places is in deepening close friendships and platonic connection.

Chasing unavailable love or seeking validation from dating apps, social media etc is the symptom of a larger issue. Loss of the village, lack of true community.

The antidote to healing these places in ourselves where we self-abandon is to deepen in friendship with others and find belonging within community and platonic connection.

Friendships where we can truly be ourselves, see and be seen, be recognized and celebrated for who we are are soul nourishing.

These are core needs of every human being. As long as we are alive, we need connection to thrive.

In my cuddle therapy sessions when we are working to untether from relationship anxiety and end addictive behaviours to love chasing, we focus on a few key things:

Somatic Experiencing
Feeling safe in your body
Feeling safe with another body
Feeling comfortable to be your self
Without judgement.

So many people don't have any safe place to go to with their most intimate fears and longings.

Practicing vulnerability within the container of a cuddle therapy session can help to reduce that sense or urgency one might feel to find a romantic partner.

When we practice vulnerability within cuddle therapy and we also give time and space for our self-esteem to increase.

We can breathe a little bit and allow the natural timing to unfold rather than pushing and trying to force something before its time.
